6 foods that are good for your teeth
When it comes to good health, food is at the centre of everything. Not surprisingly, some foods are more beneficial to our teeth than others. Here are 6 food that can easily be added to your diet.
- Apples and raw vegetables
Crunchy fruits and vegetables force us to chew and dislodge tartar. They also stimulate salivation and help to give you a fresh breath.
- Dairy products
Milk neutralizes oral acidity. A piece of cheese will have the same effect—and it will also calm your hunger pangs. Yet another healthy choice!
- Cranberries
This home-grown little red fruit contains polyphenols, like tea, which may prevent plaque from sticking to your teeth. Beware of the sugar that is often added to cranberry-based products!
- Nuts
Most nuts contain vitamins and minerals that are excellent for our teeth. They force us to chew and therefore salivate. Cashews are even known to have antimicrobial properties.
- Tea
Tea, especially black tea, fights bad breath thanks to its polyphenols. All tea colours prevent certain bacteria from sticking to the enamel.
- Water
Rinsing with plain water is an effective way to dislodge bacteria and reduce acidity in the mouth. Water is also the most natural appetite suppressant available!
